Training Day: Toxic Chemicals

One of our unit's long-term members, Dr. Jennifer Jenner, created a new class for Training Day to focus on Toxic Chemical Emergencies. The session raised awareness of the hazards of these chemicals, many of which are often transported across the country or are available in this area.

Students learned ways to identify a possible chemical emergency.

Dr. Jenner reviewed situations in which a chemical release could occur, the possible outcomes, and ways to protect the rescuer. She also provided numerous reference materials and explained how actual emergencies have been addressed in recent years.

Dr. Jenner shared resources such as a handbook that provides detailed information about toxic chemicals.
