Eighty-two participants
enjoyed our unit's fourth Training Day on Saturday,
May 14. Medical attendees appreciated the continuing education
credits they received through the final
program. Members applauded the value of networking as well
as the classes. This
major event was provided FREE
as a benefit of membership. We particularly thank our sponsors
for supporting the event.
One of our new topics
was a session on Cultural Awareness.
Per the request of the attendees for a 'field trip' to the Metta
Health Center clinic, we scheduled a program for September 15
on providing Culturally Appropriate Care. See the story
on Coming Events for details.
It was a pleasure to
offer a popular class on Deaf and Hard
of Hearing Individuals to our unit for the first time.
Our speaker then provided a mini-session to the entire group over
lunch:
Other new classes addressed
Chemical and Biological Hazards
and Mass-Casualty Incidents:
We were pleased to
bring back a well-received session on Disaster
Mental Health...
... as well as Incident
Command training through NIMS-700
and ICS-100:
Members also enjoyed
the lunchtime sessions and raffle, with the opportunity to reconnect
throughout the day.
We worked hard to ensure
that the topics were pertinent to members at all levels.
